Two locations, one riding school
Motocross holidays with the MX-Academy take you to green tracks in north-east Switzerland or into the desert of Dubai. In Switzerland, bike and protective gear wait for you on site, so a normal suitcase is all you need for your days in the saddle.

In Switzerland your base is the MX-Academy in Schlatt TG, a village in the north-east of the country. The training ground is part of NASAK, the national concept for sports facilities of the Swiss Confederation and Swiss Olympics. Of its four tracks, one is reserved for children and novices. As the site is private land, you ride without a driving licence, whether you are 4 or 74.
Courses run on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A full day lasts six to eight hours, of which you spend 3.5 hours on track on a Wednesday and 4 hours on a Saturday, breaks and instruction included. Measured without traffic, the drive from Zurich Airport to Schlatt TG takes around 39 minutes, and from Schlatt TG to the Rhine Falls around 16, so a riding day and sightseeing fit into the same week. How arrival and the course day work is covered step by step on the page about a motocross trip to Switzerland.

The second location is Dubai, around six hours by plane from Switzerland. Out there you ride motocross and enduro in the desert with the school of Chris Möckli and Mohammed Al Balooshi, two riders with plenty of motocross and rally experience who know the area. There are no fixed course days: you pick the date that suits your journey.
You can either book the MX package or arrange hotel and flight yourself and contact the MX-Academy only for the riding or a desert ride. What a desert ride involves, and how motocross training in Dubai works, is explained on the website of MX-Academy Dubai.

The two locations complement each other over the year. In Switzerland the main season runs from spring to autumn; motocross is possible all year round, but in winter the weather limits it more. Dubai works the other way round: the official tourism board names the cooler months from around October to April as its busiest season. Summer there is hot, and the board points visitors to its many air-conditioned indoor attractions.
In Switzerland a day with rental bike covers the Honda CRF, the full set of protective gear, coaching and use of the track. It costs €390 (CHF 360) on a Wednesday and €444 (CHF 410) on a Saturday. Travel to and from Schlatt TG is not part of the price, while catering can be added when you register. Experienced riders who arrive with their own bike pay less: €195 (CHF 180) for a Saturday, €163 (CHF 150) for a Wednesday. Every price here is non-binding and may be adjusted.
For Dubai there are two ways to travel: the MX package, or hotel and flight booked by you with the riding arranged directly with the MX-Academy. Questions about either location go to info@mx-academy.ch. For the Swiss dates, open the calendar of events, where each course day can be booked.

Complete beginners are as welcome as riders with years on the bike, from children of four to adults of 74. Everyone who rides with the MX-Academy for the first time gets compulsory coaching, because the Honda competition bikes call for proper technique. Families, couples, groups of friends and colleagues can book the same date, and group events are priced on request.
Packing is easy. Put long trousers and sturdy shoes in your bag, plus dry clothes for the way home. A helmet, goggles and boots, plus gloves, knee guards and a chest protector, can be hired in every size up to XXL, children’s sizes included, together with Honda bikes from the small CRF50 up to the CRF250. If you would like to give someone a riding day, a gift voucher is sold online only and arrives at once as a PDF.

Yes. The Swiss training ground is private, which means you need no driving licence, and the MX-Academy hires out Honda bikes and full protective gear on site.
Travel to and from Schlatt TG and any crash damage are not included. Catering can be added when you register; prices are non-binding.
In the Swiss summer the gap is two hours, in the Swiss winter three, since the United Arab Emirates stay on UTC+4 all year and have no daylight saving time.
